Briefly describe the history of the museum, its collection and donors.

The museum is dedicated to the history of mining and export of gold in India, with emphasis on the Gadgil family and their contributions to the field. Located in one of P. N. Gadgil Jewellers' showrooms itself, the museum comprises one large gallery with pictures and information. The museum is also fitted with a unique lighting system.

Dajikaka Gadgil was one of India's richest and most respected gold merchants. The museum was opened to mark his birth centenary. The museum, along with ten audiovisual screens, tells the story of gold refinement in India--from mining to transportation. It also highlights biographical details of the Gadgil family, their wealth and business endeavours.
