Housed inside the National Bal Bhavan, the National Children's Museum is home to a massive array of world-wide collections ranging from dolls, toys, objects made of bronze and stones, art and craft items, utensils, jewelleries, musical instruments, currencies, and many more that completely capture the interest and fascination of children. The attractions for children are toy trains, magic mirrors, a science park, a mini zoo, and an aquarium.

The Hamara Bharat or 'Our India' gallery, created in 1994, exhibits several of the cultural arts, crafts, religions, rituals, and progress in the area of science and technology through an audio and visual display that showcases the wealth of Indian cultural heritage. The Gaurav Gatha or 'Story of Pride' gallery depicts a series of elements that mark and narrate the past of India, including the first struggle for independence, battles, failures, victories, social reforms, traditional customs. The Surya or 'Sun' gallery was established in 1996 with the purpose of educating everyone on the advantages of solar power as a substitute and resource for generating energy. This temporary exhibition section exclusively and annually presents the crafts and arts made by children from more than 50 Bal Bhavan Centres.
