Briefly describe the history of the museum, its collection and donors.

The Maharshi Karve Memorial was established in 2007, at the Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha (MKSSS) in Pune. Dhondo Keshav Karve, known as Maharshi Karve was a social reformer who worked for women's rights and was an educator at Fergusson College, Pune, for a large portion of his life. He also established an all women's university, which still educates more than 30,000 women every year. He started the MKSSS in 1896.

Mr Lal Krishna Advani inaugurated the memorial, which was built using the donations from alumni and current students, on the 150th birth anniversary of Maharshi Karve. It displays some of Karve’s personal belongings, as well as a timeline of Maharshi Karve’s life and work. An architectural wonder in itself,  it is divided into three main halls. Along with Karve’s own work, the museum celebrates the contributions of several of his contemporaries as well.
